I found the most fabulous song this weekend...
It's a BeeGee's cover by two of my favorite artirts-- Damien Rice and Ray LaMontagne.
"To Love Somebody"
Check it out!! I think it is going to play as the grandparents and moms are seated at the wedding. :) So excited!

In Laws
Matt and I have talked about how wonderfully blessed we are. We both LOVE our soon to be in-laws. Now, I know how incredibly rare this can be... My poor mom had to put up with my dad's mother for 25 years. I loved her, but let's be honest-- She was a bit on the cuckoo side. I can't imagine having to deal with someone who is all but supportive of our union.
ANYWAY, Matt's parents are amazing, and they have truly shown it lately. They are doing all they can to help us get settled... They have been out to our new house many times, helping us paint, come up with a plan, and take care of the yard. Yesterday, I came home to Matt's mom, who had gone to both Hobby Lobby and Pier 1 and bought us such cute decorations for our house. Before then, the only decoration I had was an outdoor rug that my mom bought for us a few weeks ago. Everything is so dang cute and it sure does feel good to have a few things in the house. Thanks, Melanie.
Also, my parents came home last night. YAY! I get to spend the weekend with my mom doing wedding planning and we're even getting massages! SO excited. :)

The Dark Side
Matt and I have officially made our ways to the dark side. We are now iPhone owners. Yes, we swore we would never give in, we cursed the iPhone generation as we stood strongly behind our Blackberries, we booed and hissed at all of the "There's an App for that" commercials. After all of that, we gave in to the demons.
I came home yesterday after having a very LONG day. My kids are all but eager to be here (I hear it's the curse of the last couple of weeks of school). I am spread very thin with all that is going on right now. I had a wedding shower after school, then went and ordered our Save the Dates. Side note: they are going to look A-MAZING! Anyway, I have been beyond stressed, so when I got home last night and there was a little red bag on the counter addressed to "My Baby" (So what? We are a little corny!), I was so happy. I read what had to have been the sweetest card-- Matt knows how incredibly stressed I am and does his best to help. It said something along the lines of "I just wanted to get you a little something to help you get organized and maybe relieve some of your stress." YAY iPhone! :) I am in the iPhone trend neck deep and I'm okay with it.
Anyway, with my new phone and the fact that my parents are coming in to town tonight, I am a dang happy little girl. :)

Monday of Mourning
One of my best friends lost her granddaddy yesterday. Thank goodness they have a faith in the Lord like no other. They know that he is in Heaven, reunited with his wife, and rejoicing with our Savior. I can't imagine not having a relationship with God and trying to mourn for someone... Please keep this incredible family in your prayers.
Also, my grandpa's dog was killed last night. While I realize that this does not exactly compare to losing a human being, if you're anything like us, your pets ARE your family. My grandpa has suffered an unfathomable amount of loss in his life, and his dog was truly his best friend. She has gone everywhere with him for the past 10 years (or maybe even more). Needless to say, they are devastated. Please also keep them in your prayers... Even though losing a dog is different than a family member, they are experiencing loss as well.

Holy...
So, yesterday was quite eventful. I was in a Math meeting all day but was still on campus. We went into town and had lunch, and we hadn't been back for 30 minutes when our principal came over the speakers, "Teahers and students, please take cover IMMEDIATELY." Her tone said it all. We opened the conference room door and saw her and the other principals rushing children to their positions. As she walked by she said "a tornado just touched down in Midlothian." Naturally, we were freaked! We ended up hiding out in one of our science labs for almost 45 minutes. It was beyond intense, but thankfully, everyone was okay. Here is a picture of the tornado... Only a mile or so from my school.

ANYWAY, on a lighter note, we got our engagement pictures today! They are incredible. Vanessa did such an amazing job! I'm so happy! :)

Good Luck Chuck
As I was snuggling next to my fiance' (yep... FIANCE') on the couch last night, I couldn't help but think of all the things that brought us to the point that we are right now. I was reminded of a story that I never thought I'd tell anyone, because I was pretty sure it would never be relevant. Boy, was I wrong.
Back in college, I dated a guy that many of you know... Because of that, I will call him "Gerry" (because I sure do love Gerard Butler... Mmm). So, Gerry and I met through mutual friends. He was a great guy... We had SO much fun together. His biggest downfall though-- He was probably the world's worst boyfriend. Seriously. I wish, like nobody's business, that we'd stayed friends instead of dating because we would probably still be friends. But hey, all things happen for a reason and otherwise, I wouldn't have this story to tell!
Gerry and I dated for a pretty short time, and we were all but serious, but I will NEVER forget the day we broke up for good... We ended things, more or less, because he said he respected me too much to cheat on me, and if we stayed together he was sure to do so. Call me crazy, but even with a complete lack of nobility, I've always respected his honesty at that very moment.
Right before he left he said to me, "Look at the bright side, all of my ex-girlfriends have married the guy they dated after me." Yeah, he sure did. WOW, my very own "Good Luck Chuck." How lucky am I? (Insert sarcasm here). I wasn't so much respecting his honesty at that point... More so, just wanting to punch him in the face.
HOWEVER, guess who I met just 6 months after Gerry walked out of my life? Yep, you guessed it... Matt Houchin. So, almost 4 years later as I am planning my wedding to the man of my dreams, I'm more than thankful that he was correct.
Thanks Gerry. For real.
